At holiday time the beach and promenade became catwalks for the masses so in this seminar, we take a closer look at what people wore beside the seaside. Fashion historian and broadcaster Amber Butchart will share her work on Nautical Chic while Southend Museums Director, Ciara Phipps, will talk about the collection of bathing costumes in her care. We’ll also get a European perspective from the Slovenian academic and swimming costume collector Tomi Brezovec.
